June Board meeting 6/25 via Zoom

Please note, due to restrictions on public meetings due to COVID-19, the Fallsburg Library Board of Trustees’ meeting scheduled for June 25, 2020 at 5:15pm will be held online via Zoom beginning at 5:15pm. For the link and password to join the meeting, please email fbr@rcls.org prior to 5:00pm on 6/25/2020.

Curbside Services Beginning June 15, 2020

We are working to reopen YOUR Library in a safe and efficient manner. Because the COVID-19 pandemic is every-changing, the following dates/times may change.

June 8 – Outside Book Drop remains open and staff will continue processing your returns. Please understand that items will be quarantined when received and may not be removed from your record immediately. Due dates for all materials currently checked out have been extended to June 30th, so no new fines will be placed on any materials currently out. Please be sure to get those materials returned by June 30th!

June 15 – Curbside services begin! Call us at (845) 436-6067 or email us at fbr@rcls.org to place a hold!
PLEASE NOTE: For the next month or more, only items owned by our library will be available for holds.

June 22 – Online Catalog and the RCLS Gateway mobile app will begin to allow hold requests. You will be able to view our collection online and place holds for yourself (if you are a Fallsburg card holder). When your hold is available, we will notify you when your item(s) are ready to be picked up and to schedule a date/time for pickup. Please adhere to your pickup date/time so we can limit the amount of people picking up materials at one time.

If you are NOT a Fallsburg card holder, but see a Fallsburg item currently available on our shelf (i.e. it is NOT checked out, on hold, or listed as AVAIL-SOON) you can call or email us. We will pull the item and check it out to you and schedule a date/time for you to pick up the item. We only ask that you please return this item to our book drop when you have finished, to make it available to the next patron as quickly as possible.

Our Library Hours are being adjusted and will eventually return to “normal” hours.

Beginning June 15, Curbside services begin:
MONDAY, THURSDAY & FRIDAY: 9:30am-4pm
TUESDAY & WEDNESDAY: 11:30am-6pm

**Please note** We ask that you wear your mask when interacting with our staff – as we will be wearing our masks as well. Any library materials that you need to return, please place them in the book drop rather than hand them to staff.

We understand that these have been, and continue to be, very trying times. We are here to assist you in whatever way we can, as safely as we can. We thank you for your continued support and understanding.

Be sure to watch for information about our Summer Reading Program (which will take a virtual turn this year)!

Library Update, Trustee Election and Budget Vote info – May 8, 2020

For the health and safety of our community and staff, the Fallsburg Library is still closed until further notice.

The Fallsburg Library’s annual budget vote and trustee election is typically held the first Tuesday of June. We are happy to inform you that the Fallsburg Library Board of Trustees will NOT be seeking a tax levy increase for the Library’s FY 2020-2021 budget.

In accordance with Executive Order 202.26, the Fallsburg Library trustee election will be done by absentee ballot only and will be done in conjunction with the Fallsburg Central School District’s budget vote and trustee election on Tuesday June 9, 2020. Please keep an eye out in the Sullivan County Democrat for a legal notice with further information on how the election will be conducted.

There are 3 seats up for election as follows:

Seat of Judith Merone – 5 year term (July 1, 2020 – June 30, 2025)

Seat of Renee Kates – 3 year term (July 1, 2020 – June 30, 2023 – to fill vacated seat of Carol Jenny Silverman)

Vacant seat – 3 year term (July 1, 2020 – June 30, 2023 – to fill vacated seat of Sonia Ward).

This year, due to COVID 19 restrictions, all candidates must self nominate and alert the Library Director at kwells@rcls.org of their intent to be on the ballot no later than May 12, 2020 at 5:00pm. Candidates can email or mail (PO Box 730 South Fallsburg, NY 12779) their letter of intent, but it must be received by the Library Director before 5:00pm on May 12th. Candidates must inform the Library Director of which seat they are intending to run for. Candidates must be a qualified voter of the Fallsburg Central School District.

Due dates for all materials checked out have been extended to June 1, 2020 and no overdue fines are being assessed on materials.

Although the Library is still physically closed, you can access hundreds of free online resources 24/7 including e-books, e-magazines, downloadable videos, music and audiobooks, databases, and more – all you need is your library card.

Please email fbr@rcls.org if you need assistance obtaining a library card and/or your pin number. You must be a resident of the Fallsburg Central School District to qualify.

We miss you all and cannot wait to be open again! Please keep in mind, as restrictions get lifted and we’re allowed to operate again, it will be in a very different manner than what we have all become used to. As we get closer to being able to open, we will provide more updates and information. Until then, be well!
